At Goss Baptist Church it is our prayer that we bring God glory and honor, and that we delight in the relationship He has given to us through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. That relationship has been granted by Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone, as revealed in Scripture alone, to the glory of God alone.

Sermon for Sunday, April 23

Romans 5:13-21

After a brief excursis from his current theme of justification by faith alone to write of some benefits of that justification, Paul is now ready to return to his theme. He is going to answer a couple of questions regarding this topic, viz., what has made us rebels that stand in need of justification and how does God constitute the righteousness that will be imputed to us for our justification? We will address these questions in this weeks sermon.

Events

Wednesday, March 10, A Night of Special Prayer: Supplication. The pastor will lead us to make personal and corporal requests for intervention, always seeking God's glory. You may come prepared to pray aloud with a specific prayer of supplication if you wish.

Family Night, Wednesday, May 24. (Note that this is the 4th rather than the normal 3rd Wednesday.)

We are beginning to make plans for a True Love Waits celebration. It likely will be a weekend event, so we are considering the best time to do this. 

 

April Emphasis--The Consequences of Justification

D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, in a sermon from Romans entitled "Certainty of Salvation," stated, "In the light of what he's been saying [about justification], there are certain inevitable deductions and conclusions to be drawn and to be arrived at." After clearly pounding home that justification is by faith alone, Paul begins to write about some conclusions we can draw from that reality.
